Swan District Junior Football Umpires History

Formed in 1964, this year sees 60 years of the Swan Districts Junior Football Umpiring Association and coincides with our move to the new  Boya Oval facility in Helena Valley as our training venue.

Although the Swans Junior competition was created in 1950 with the Swan Umpire club one of several umpire groups  operating within the district, the Association itself was non-existent for 14 years.  In 2010, the Association became incorporated to bring a greater degree of professionalism to the umpiring group and provide greater transparency and accountability to members. 

 The Association aims to provide the opportunity for everyone in our community to participate in healthy, safe, and inclusive Umpiring  Junior AFL activities and readily encourage a fun and family orientated environment. We are proud to boast several family groups of fathers and sons and siblings all of whom will at times umpire matches together to strengthen the bonds of family enjoying a sport together.
